Free energy is not about creating energy out of nothing

It is capturing an energy that already exists but was not being harnessed. The distinction changes everything — and it rests on technologies already present in millions of homes, without controversy.

The most common misunderstanding

When people speak of “free energy”, the image that spontaneously comes to mind is that of a machine producing energy out of nowhere — perpetual motion, a violation of the first law of thermodynamics. That is indeed impossible, and no serious person claims otherwise.

But that is not the only possible definition, nor the most accurate one. Another reading, much older and already widely industrialised, exists: using a small amount of energy to capture, trigger or convert a larger reserve of energy, already present in the environment, but which had remained untapped until then. It is not creation. It is access.

The reference example: the heat pump

A heat pump consumes electricity — but the heat it delivers into a house far exceeds the electricity consumed. It is no miracle: the heat pump draws heat already present in the outside air, even in cold weather, or in the ground. The electricity only serves to run the compressor that makes this extraction possible. The complete balance remains even: heat delivered = electricity consumed + heat drawn from outside. Nothing is created; an already existing reserve is made usable.

Why it matters

Nobody calls a heat pump a suspicious “free energy machine” — because the capture mechanism has been well understood and measured for a long time. It is exactly this same logic, applied to other sources of ambient energy, that constitutes the serious working hypothesis behind the term “free energy” when it is used correctly.

Other technologies that do exactly the same thing

The heat pump is not an isolated case. A large number of technologies, nowadays commonplace and uncontroversial, rely on this very principle: a secondary energy source, present in the environment, made usable thanks to a capture or conversion device.

Photovoltaic solar panel

Secondary source: the sun’s electromagnetic radiation

Directly converts the energy of solar photons into electricity, with no combustion and no moving parts. The energy does not come from the panel itself, but from an external, free source that is already there.

Wind turbine

Secondary source: kinetic energy of air masses

Captures the energy of the wind, itself produced by differences in solar heating of the atmosphere. The wind turbine does not create this movement of air, it converts it.

Hydroelectric dam

Secondary source: potential energy of water at altitude

The water held at height was lifted for free by the cycle of solar evaporation and precipitation. The dam converts this potential energy into electricity by letting it flow down.

Geothermal energy

Secondary source: the Earth’s internal heat

Harnesses the heat produced by the natural radioactive decay of rocks at depth and the residual heat from the planet’s formation — a source that is almost inexhaustible on a human scale, unrelated to the energy injected to exploit it.

Tidal power

Secondary source: Earth–Moon gravitational attraction

Captures the energy of tidal movement, produced by an astronomical phenomenon entirely external to the installation itself.

Thermoelectric generator (Seebeck effect)

Secondary source: waste heat (engines, industrial processes)

Directly converts a temperature difference, often coming from heat that would otherwise be wasted, into electricity — with no moving parts, from an energy that already existed but was not being used.

What all these technologies have in common

In each of these cases, a small input of energy or a conversion device serves to make usable a larger energy, already present in the environment in a form that cannot be used directly (ambient heat, radiation, motion, thermal gradient, kinetic energy). None of these technologies “creates” energy. All of them scrupulously respect the conservation of energy, as soon as all of the flows are correctly accounted for, including the ambient source being harnessed.

On InfiniX

It is in this very category that the working hypothesis put forward to explain the observed energy surplus sits: an exchange with the ambient energy of the environment, comparable in principle to what the technologies listed above already do, without controversy. This hypothesis is not yet established as a confirmed scientific fact for InfiniX — that is precisely the purpose of the ongoing research. But there is nothing exotic about it: it describes a category of phenomena already known, measured, and industrialised for decades.


“Free energy” should therefore never mean “energy created from nothing” — something physically impossible. The term, used correctly, refers to access to an energy that is already there, free, and untapped until now. It is this definition, and no other, that is relevant to understanding the approach behind InfiniX.
